Benefits of Becoming a Guardian Family
As a Guardian Family, you’ll receive one of the very best puppies South Sound Australian Labradoodles has to offer. Our breeding dogs are carefully selected according to ALAA guidelines, with an emphasis on excellent temperament, sound structure, and overall health. You’ll also have the unique experience of being part of our breeding program and helping us continue to produce exceptional Australian Labradoodles. One of the most rewarding parts is seeing the beautiful puppies your Guardian Dog helps bring into the world!
Guardian Family Responsibilities
Guardian Families are responsible for providing routine veterinary care and supporting the overall health and well-being of their dog. This includes:
Annual vaccinations and wellness care
A high-quality diet
Regular grooming
Breeder-approved flea and tick prevention, when needed
Formal obedience training
Regular exercise and socialization
Plenty of love, attention, and companionship
South Sound Australian Labradoodles will cover all breeding-related veterinary expenses.
Guardian Families must also:
Live within approximately 30 minutes of the Olympia area for a male and within one hour for a female
Have secure physical fencing or keep the dog leashed whenever outside
Never leave the dog outdoors for extended periods
Have a schedule that does not require the dog to be left alone for more than four hours at a time
Be willing to provide occasional transportation for breeding appointments and breeding-related veterinary visits
Financial Commitment
As a Guardian Family, you will welcome home a pick-of-the-litter South Sound Australian Labradoodles puppy with four important commitments:
Provide a refundable deposit equal to half the pet price—$1,750—one week before the puppy’s go-home date.
Invest in your Guardian Dog’s future through formal obedience training. A well-trained dog is happier, safer, and a joy to live with.
Maintain Trupanion pet insurance, which is offered at a breeder discount, and provide NuVet supplements.
Welcome, love, cherish, and care for your puppy as a treasured member of your family.
Breeding Details for Female Guardian Dogs
When a female Guardian Dog begins her heat cycle, her family must notify us within 24 hours. Her first veterinary appointment will typically take place between days five and seven of her cycle. Depending on her progesterone levels, up to four additional appointments may be needed. She will then be bred one to three times. After breeding, she will remain with her Guardian Family until approximately one week before her due date. She will then stay with South Sound Australian Labradoodles for the remainder of her pregnancy, delivery, and time caring for her puppies. Typically, a mother will stay with us for six to seven weeks, until her puppies are weaned. Scheduled visits are welcomed and encouraged while she is staying with us.
Breeding Details for Male Guardian Dogs
Male Guardian Families are required to live within 30 minutes of Olympia. Male Guardian Dogs are needed periodically throughout the year for breeding. These are generally short visits, after which they return home to their Guardian Families. A brucellosis blood test is also required each time the female he is being paired with goes into heat.
